Default A little help please :)

So i used to play long ago and i'm coming back. I had a wa/mo back in the olden days for solo farming trolls and minos but this time my GF is making an el/?? aoe nuke machine to play along with me. I'm not sure which second profession would be best for this kind of set up on my warrior. I've read in a few places that wa/mo isnt as awesome as it used to be and wa/ne is better.

The idea is that i pull a large group and hold them on me while she blows them up.

Just looking for thoughts and suggestions really. Thanks

EDIT: I forgot to mention, we're only playing prophecies ATM.

Wow GW must have sucked hard when only proph was out, so glad I started playing after other expansions were released.

Warriors should do damage, not tank, learn it, love it.

I'm sure you can only have one elite skill on a bar.

Buy any/every other expansion for you and your girl, that's what I did, she started on factions, then nf and finally eotn which came with old stinky (proph), both of us can't stand the place even now.

Eles are awesome healers and utility professions now, nuking eles for Normal Mode only. She might prefer a necro, which buffs a warriors damage a lot, and both of you get more benefit.

Monks and nercos are still great in that if I am not mistaken.

That skill set is impossible due to it having 2 elite skills (Gladiators Defense|Hundred Blades) , if your focusing on less dmg and more tanking Gladiators Defense/Defy Pain (I'm not sure if defy pain is proph. would have to check.) would be better for an elite if you only have proph. Endure Pain is also a good one to bring also might try the Frenzy/Rush combo use frenzy as an IAS while rush is a good IMS and can be used to cancel frenzy when getting spiked. Also id probably just stay a wammo if your thinking about to 2 man (women) farms healing sig just isn't going to keep you alive, Live vicariously, Vigorous Spirit are some good skills for melee classes for health management. I would suggest getting the other games if you can as they open up alot of new skills, proph. alone just dosen't cut it anymore...

Also if I'm not mistaken (which I may be) I don't think Hundred Blades was an Elite in Vanilla GW which you explain the 2 Elites build you have up there.

DUH, i forgot about only having 1 elite skill. My bad. I guess i'd drop Glads for another tank-ish stance then. I'm trying to create something that does enough damage to maintain aggro while having skills to survive.

My Wa/mo was set up with cyclone axe, a bunch of stances, live vicariously and mending so it basically never died. It wasnt the greatest damager though so i'd be worried about the nuker drawing threat from me.

We'll likely be getting the other games after Xmas. Its an expensive time right now.

Mabey
100b
Frenzy
Sever Artery
Gash
Rush
Endure Pain
Vigorous Spirit
Live Vicariously

With Idk 12 Sword 10 Str. 10 healing (with runes)

Just one thrown out off the top of my head I think all are proph. skills

100b is a great skill, but unless you get an elite warrior tome you won't be able to learn it until you've finished prophecies. The only place to cap it is in the last mission! My advice, don't obsess about running a certain build, go cap all the elite skills and try different things. Warrior's Endurance, which you can get as soon as you reach the crystal desert is quite good, as well as Earth Shaker in the southern shiver peaks.

Also, you tank well enough in normal mode simply by virtue of having 80 armor and a shield. There's no need to bring any tanking skills (though "Watch Yourself!" and "Shields Up!" are nice for helping your party). In fact, if you have a protection monk with protective spirit and shielding hands, use frenzy and blow things up!

Don't worry about the secondary, you won't have much use for it until you're at the stage where you can change it.

Thanks for the help so far guys

I'm one of those sad, sad people who has to have the build pre-designed and know EXACTLY what i'm doing (Comes from 8 years of playing NWN).

As i said the build needs to deal enough damage to hold aggro from an ele nuker. We're pretty much just gonna be running around just the 2 of us most of the time.

There really is no "holding aggro" in GW and if your ele companion uses AoE on the enemies you've collected they will scatter anyway.

Unless you actually have all these skills you're tossing out there, there really is no point to planning a build. As mentioned, no elites are available until you reach the desert unless you buy a run to Droknar's Forge first. Even some of the normal skills are only available at certain skill trainers, one of which isn't found until you reach the area of the last three missions. Plus there are a lot of skills available as quest rewards, so complete those quests to build up your list of available skills and try them out.

"Just the two of you" won't cut it past the Ascalon area, not as developing characters. Unless you mean the two of you + 2/4/6 henchies. Yes, there are running and farming builds, but those are designed with specific builds in specific areas with specific gear and normally level 20 toons with all of their attribute points. You aren't there yet.

Now, you as a warrior and she as a monk, hanging back and healing you, you could make some progress. It'd be slow and painful and not worth the effort though.

When i say just the 2 of us, i only mean for questing obviously. For missions we'll have to get a group.

I was just thinking of all those quests where you need to kill lots of mobs to get drops, also for farming for mats and stuff, it'd be nice to have a tough aggro magnet and an AoE nuker to speed things up.

But i guess you're probably right. I'll find a set of skills that work and that i like eventually, like i did with my old wa/mo.

Even for questing you'll need a full party. That's what the henchmen are for, so you don't have to go looking for other people all the time.

Oh, and there are no quests where you have to farm for drops, nor can you hold aggro by doing high damage. The monsters will scatter and run away from area damage, chase after your healers and anybody who looks squishy, like you elementalist friend. It's a different game, forget your old assumptions.

As a starter build, here's what you can run early on in prophecies:

Seeking Blade, Sever Artery, Gash, Final Thrust, "Watch Yourself!", Frenzy, Sprint, Resurrection Signet.

For axes, swap the first four skills for:

Cyclone Axe, Dismember, Penetrating Blow, Executioner's Strike.

When you get to Kryta with the undead, use a hammer instead of sword. Skeletons take more damage from blunt weapons, and are immune to the bleeding from sever artery.

Bring these henchmen in 4-man areas: Alesia, Reyna.
Bring these henchmen in 6-man areas: Alesia, Claude, Dunham, Reyna.
